Flag of Louisanna


The design consists of the pelican group from the state seal, in white and gold, and a white ribbon bearing the state motto, "Union, Justice, and Confidence", on a field of a solid blue.
Flag was adopted in 1912.


Louisanna was the 18th state to join the union.
It was settled in 1699 and entered the union on Apr. 30, 1812.
The state capital is in Baton Rouge


Their nickname is: The Pelican State
Their motto is: Union, justice, and confidence
Origin of state's name: Named in honor of France's King Louis XIV
