Baltimore Page

We were in Baltimore to see the Angels take on the Orioles at their home, Camden Yards- Oriole Park. It is a very nice stadium and the Angels won 2 out of 3 games. Sorry O’s fans. But it was nice to see the stadium and I even got my Alfredo Griffin to sign my jersey. Even though my main goal was to see some games, we also saw my friend John and his wife who live in Catonville which is just outside of Baltimore. We spent part of the evening at their house and had soft shell crab for dinner. They were really good and had a lot of flavor. I am not really a seafood person, but I was willing to try it. I was glad I did.

Anyway, besides my seafood adventure, we did have a few things we wanted to see and do. However, Baltimore was really just a place to hang our hat. We spent a lot of time in Annapolis, Harrisburg PA, Gettysburg PA and York, PA.

The one thing we did do in Baltimore was Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine . That place is so amazing. As I said before I was never a history buff, but there are two places I’ve been and experienced that will forever have an effect on me. This place is one of them. I went along with Gene because he likes forts and it was a free day, so I thought why not? I am so glad I did. The place itself is not that amazing, it’s just a fort. But it’s the location and the history which is truly worth talking about. According to Yahoo Travel the sight of the American flag flying over Fort McHenry during the War Of 1812 inspired Francis Scott Key to pen the national anthem, the 'Star Spangled Banner.' A replica of that flag waves over the harbor-side port, now a tranquil National Park. The restored barracks hold exhibits of military and historical artifacts and a well-kept trail runs along the water's edge, affording spectacular views of ships entering and leaving the busy harbor. They also have a 15-20 minute video that they show in their cinema and it has an amazing ending. I felt such a feeling or pride again for our country and what our forefathers had to do to keep us free.

I LOVE BEING AN AMERICAN!!!

Here are some pictures of Fort McHenry , as well as Camden Yards . You will have to sign up for a Walgreens account, but it is free!

This city is so rich with history that I could spent hours listing all of the intereting things and places to see in the area. However, I went to put are few fun things to do, so here they are.The Babe Ruth Museum is desinitely on my list! Enjoy
