Los Angeles

Even though we lived in a neighboring city of Los Angeles, I thought I would create a separate section for it. I thought it would help some people who don’t live here. I will give them several historical facts regarding this incredibly huge city and a list of interesting and amusing things to do.

To begin with LA is the biggest city in population and territory. It is approximately 469.3 square miles. The city currently ranks second in city and metropolitan area population in the United States.

It was originally founded in 1769 by a group of Spanish expeditioners looking for the port of Monterey. Then, in 1781, Governor Felipe de Neve founded the Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles. Translated into English this means: the Village of Our Lady the Queen of Los Angeles. In the 19th century Los Angeles served as the capital of Alta, California until it surrendered to the United States in the Mexican War of 1847.

Many things have changes since than, and now Los Angeles is the entertainment center of the West. Today LA creates three-fourth of all motion pictures in the United States. As well as the movie industry, Los Angeles strives on the tourism, World trade, and other diversified industries that predominantly includes oil, electronics, finance, entertainment, real estate, aircraft, and aerospace. Los Angeles is the home of the prestigious University of Los Angeles (UCLA) and the distinguished University of Southern California (USC). It is also the home of the famous Los Angeles Dodgers and Dodger Stadium.

Los Angeles has numerous educational and entertaining attractions. Here is a list of some of the more enjoyable exhibits and attractions that we enjoyed. There is something for everyone. After all, Los Angeles is the city of hopes and dreams. Dare to dream, and one day your wish just may come true. Enjoy browsing!
