Our Trip to Monterey
Monterey is a beautiful city that lies on the Monterey Peninsula. Its altitude ranges from sea level to 360 feet. We drove around the city just to see what it was like. After we drove for an hour or so we went to the Monterey Aquarium.

The aquarium is really nice. They have over 500 species of marine life in twenty-three habitat areas. Included is a 90-foot long recreation of Monterey Bay, a two story sea otter exhibit, and a three story kelp forest, life size models of whales and other marine animals, a shorebird Avery, and a hands on tide pool. We even got to touch a stingray. That was really exciting. We were extremely impressed by the aquarium. Here is their web site if you would like to check it out The Monterey Bay Aquarium

We left the aquarium and went to this little restaurant called Cansuelos. It is a really warm place. It’s a refurbished old Victorian looking house. It has several rooms that were set up like big dining rooms. We had a room to ourselves most of the night. It was a great dinner. Unfortunately on a later trip to Monterey, we discovered that Cansuelos is no longer in business. We were sad to learn this, because it was a wonderful restaurant. Oh well. there are a lot of other wonderful restaurants on Cannery Row.

The ocean is such a beautiful site all the way up to Monterey. Once in Monterey, it has it’s own beauty known as the Seventeen Mile Drive. It is a scenic route that goes from Pacific Grove to Carmel. Along this route you will see Seal Rock, Cypress Point, and Lone Cypress. It is a very peaceful and aesthetic drive that is worth taking if you have the time.
