Our Trip to Sioux Falls
In 2004 I was in Sioux Falls for the LWMS Cconvention . I went with a friend from church and we had a nice time before, during, and after the convention. The morning of the convention we went to Falls Park and saw the Falls. They are nice, but were brown when you got close up to them. The water was pretty high because they had a big storm a few days before and some of the brown was mud coming down into the falls. But it was nice to see. They have this little tram that goes around the park and I had wished we had brought a lunch to sit and eat while we were there. That afternoon before the convention we also went on a boat tour around a lake. I can’t remember the name of the lake or the tour group, but it was nice. They talked about the Lewis and Clark trail as well as showing us a cave where Jesse James and his group hid one night. It was interesting.

The next morning, Friday, we went to the convention and were there most of the day. My friend had bought the meal package, so Friday night she stayed at the convention to eat and visit with friends, but I wanted to check out some more of the city. I ended up at the Washington Pavilion of Arts Museum and walked around for a while. I did sit for ½ hr and watched the Lewis and Clark: Great Journey West Show in their Wells Fargo Cinedome theatre. It was very interesting and informational. I wasn’t much of a history buff in high school, but now I enjoy it. It makes a difference when you can be where the action happened instead of just reading it in a book.***** SIDE NOTE - SINCE THIS TRIP I HAVE DONE SOME GENEOLOGY AND FOUND OUT THAT JOHN COLTER IS MY 7X GREAT GRANDFATHER ******* That is so cool to be related to someone who was one of the first people to explore the land aquired through the Lousiana Purchase.

Most of our time was spent at the convention, but Sunday before we went to the airport we did walk around and see some of the city. A lot of businesses were closed, but we still had a nice time.

Here are some Sioux Falls Pictures. You will have to sign up for a Walgreens account, but it is free!

Didn’t have much time, but there are quite a few interesting things to see and do in Sioux Falls. Here are a few of them:

Great Plains Zoo Sertoma Butterfly House Wild Water West Waterpark
USS South Dakota Battleship Memorial Sculpture Walk Park Center For Western Studies
